PAKENHAM Senior Constable John Roberts was on target at the World Fire and Police Games (WFPG) recently, claiming three medals in three archery events.
The WFPG, held in Adelaide last month, attracted more than 10,000 police and firefighters from around the world, who competed in both traditional and unique sporting events from basketball and hockey to paint balling and stair racing.
Sen Const Roberts happily returned with three medals, collecting gold in the field archery, silver in the target archery and silver in the 3-D round, an event that involves shooting at various animal-shaped targets.
The WFPG is second to only the Olympics in competitor numbers and is held every two years.
The games were last held in Australia in 1995 when Melbourne hosted the event.
The next WFPG will be held in Canada, and while Sen Const Roberts would like to attend, he said this was unlikely because of the costs involved.
