Running efforts raise results

BUDDING young athletes from Pakenham Consolidated School have again achieved impressive results at the State Cross Country Championships.
Jess Cox, who competed in the 11 year-old girls section, finished third at the championships and has won a place at the Nationals for the second year in a row.
The Nationals will be held in Geelong next term.
Karlee Bailey competed in the same race as Jess and finished 38th overall.
This was a fantastic effort because last year Karlee didn’t even qualify for the state race.
Karlee’s persistence in training has been fantastic and is the reason behind her improvement, staff said.
Ben Kelly provided the school with more reason for celebration after another exciting result, finishing seventh in the 12/13 year-old boys section at the championships.
Ben, who is from England, is new to the school this year and only started training in term one.
The physical education teachers at Pakenham Consolidated School devised a training program for Ben and he was encouraged to join Pakenham Little Aths.
Staff said it was very rewarding to see the huge improvements in Ben’s performances, knowing that much of his progress was due to programs that are held at the school.
