Seniors are set to have their say

PAKENHAM’S senior citizens are being urged to put their views as part of a plan to boost the lives of the area’s elderly.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Ronald has put out the call as council begins to develop its Living Well for Life (Positive Ageing) Strategy.
A consultative workshop will be held at the Pakenham Hall on Thursday 22 May from 10am to noon.
Residents’ views are being sought on a range of issues, including the services they currently use, the community groups or activities they are involved in and what they would like to see happen to make their lives easier and more rewarding.
Cr Ronald said it was imperative that as many people as possible had their say.
“Council will use the views of residents to help develop a plan to enable senior citizens to play a more active role in their local communities, living active and fulfilling lives,” he said.
“I encourage people to attend workshops in their towns to find out more about the strategy and to share their views on how we can make Cardinia Shire a better place for all our residents, and particularly our senior citizens.”
To book contact Sheila Barnett at s.barnett@cardinia.vic.gov.au or phone 5945 4328 by Friday 16 May for the Pakenham workshop.
Copies of the survey can be downloaded from the Have Your Say section of council’s website www.cardinia .vic.gov.au.
