Wired over award win

By Glen Atwell
GLEN Cross has won the top prize in his field.
Mr Cross’s franchise, Laser Electrical in Pakenham, was awarded the prestigious Franchise Member of the Year Award.
Mr Cross said his electrical contracting franchise had gone from strength to strength during the last couple of years.
“It’s been a great couple of years,” he said.
“Things are looking really good.”
The Laser Electrical Group was not like other franchise groups, he said.
Instead, existing businesses are approached by the company to become a part of it.
Mr Cross said it was an honour to receive the award, considering there were 70 franchisees across Australia and New Zealand.
The Pakenham business won two of the five awards presented at a conference on the Gold Coast last month, attended by 400 people.
“The company started in New Zealand. There are 50 over there and 20 in Australia,” he said.
“So it was a great thrill to be awarded the ‘franchise of the year’.”
His franchise also took out an excellence award for systems.
“That award was given to the franchise who best incorporated the Laser system into the business,” he said.
But Mr Cross said that without his dedicated staff, winning the awards would not have been possible.
“They are a great bunch of people and a great team to work with,” he said.
