TWO men have been arrested for carrying out separate burglaries on the same Pakenham display home in the space of two days.
Senior Sergeant Alan McCarthy said police arrested a man, 22, from Narre Warren and another man, 25, from Berwick.
They were charged with stealing an outdoor cane lounge and bamboo screen from a display home in Botanic Drive on Wednesday, 21 March, at 8pm.
The suspects were charged pending a summons to appear in court.
“Police returned the items to the display home but were called again the next day to be told the items were missing again, Sen Sgt McCarthy said. “Police then visited one of the suspects’ homes and found the stolen items.”
The two men were charged again and will appear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a date to be set.
Sen Sgt McCarthy said regular patrols of new housing estates were made in marked as well as unmarked police vehicles.
“Stealing of material from display homes and building sites in new areas is a common problem,” he said.
“We ask if anyone sees anything suspicious or has any information that they contact Pakenham Police or Crime Stoppers,” Sen Sgt McCarthy said.
