PAKENHAM was alight with Christmas spirit on Saturday night as houses from around the area turned on their light display for neighbours.
Local families were out in force to check out houses swathed with Christmas lights and decorations, with visitors around Argyle Court braving the cold wind to get in the Christmas spirit.
Mick Page, whose house on Eagle Drive was awash with fairy lights, cut-outs and a glowing Christmas tree in the window, said he decorated his family’s house for the past 10 years.
He said his family first started decorating their house when they lived near the Pakenham Racecourse.
“That was when we used house lamps.
“We didn’t have fairy lights then,” he said.
“We love it.
“We always do it.”
Mr Page said while there were still about the same number of houses that were decorated, there were many new houses joining in the festivities.
“A lot of new people are putting up lights,” he said.
Mr Page said many people had dropped by on Saturday night to take a look.
“People came around on Sunday as well.
“It’s great. They were all there,” he said.
Mr Page said some of the houses had not put timers on, so they were not lit up when people went past at night.
