The ‘old kit bag’ to help tackle graffiti

CARDINIA Shire Council is stepping up its fight against graffiti and is enlisting the support of local businesses and traders.
The council is working with Victoria Police, local businesses and residents in a bid to stamp out what has been an eyesore around town.
A multi-pronged action plan has been developed to rid Pakenham of the spray-paint scourge, with council keen for the community to play an active role.
In the coming months, the council will roll out graffiti kits to traders in the shire in a bid to stamp out what has been an eyesore in parts of the area.
Central Ward councillor Brett Owen said graffiti was a crime and a concern for everyone in the community.
“Graffiti is a community problem and Council is keen to work with residents and businesses to help stamp it out,” he said.
The graffiti clean-up kits are currently being developed by the council.
