Minding your own business

PEOPLE wanting to start their own business can get a head start in Pakenham.
Living and Learning Pakenham is running its Small Business Management course again.
Certificate IV in Small Business Management is an accredited course and runs for 12 months, one day per week.
The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in running their own business or currently running their own business.
The 10 units include such topics as: Researching a business idea, Legal requirements, Business Planning, Workplace Safety, Managing a small team, financial planning, making a presentation and general business operations.
Tutor Jenny Thompson has had 24 years’ experience in the business field including administration and owning/running a business for 15 years, in partnership. Jenny currently runs her own business in business services and training.
The current course had a variety of students including business owners who have now completed a very detailed business plan that they can utilise immediately.
Student Louise started a business with her husband last July and did the course to get the tools to run their business properly.
“Now we have a working business plan to keep us motivated and on track,” she said.
Kelly has run her own business for eight years.
“I found the course to be beneficial. It boosted my confidence in applying strategies to my business,” she said.
