PAKENHAM school children met new friends from Dandenong as part of a celebration of cultural diversity. Before the holidays, children from grade three at Pakenham Consolidated School were visited by students from Dandenong South. Teachers said the ‘buddy’ program has given students a valuable chance to experience other cultures with very few of the children from the Dandenong school having English backgrounds.
During the visit, children enjoyed making friendship bands, Aussie bush dancing and Aboriginal dot painting as well as a concert and sausage sizzle.
