Carols night set to light up

HUNDREDS of tiny flames will light the night sky at the Carols by Candlelight in Pakenham on Sunday.
The popular traditional event will be held at Lakeside in the outdoor amphitheatre beside the Cardinia Cultural Centre..
Up to 1,000 residents are expected to gather for the carols and preparations are in full swing to make it a night to remember.
St James Anglican Church Reverend Hilary Roath said it would be a true local event.
The evening will be compered by Sean McMahon and will feature soloists Angelie O’Brien, Aaron Pratt and Hayley Ballis.
Also performing will be the Cardinia Concert Band, Pakenham Carols Choir and the Cardinia Performing Arts Company.
Children from local churches will present the nativity story and Santa has promised to drop by for a special visit.
Organisers have thanked the SES, CFA, St Johns Ambulance, Rotary and Pakenham Police.
Carols by Candlelight is an alcohol-free event. The program starts at 8.30pm.
