THE Pakenham Bypass is on track to open before next year with 90 per cent of the freeway complete.
Project director Charlie Broadhurst said VicRoads would open the bypass sometime in December, provided there was enough good weather this month to allow for its completion.
“Completion of final pavement preparation and surfacing works are dependent on dry weather and warm temperatures,” he said.
VicRoads is also planning to hold a special event where residents would be able to walk on the bypass before it opens to traffic.
Mr Broadhurst said VicRoads would announce the date for the community event in the coming weeks.
It is anticipated the Pakenham Bypass will reduce the average travel time between Beaconsfield and Nar Nar Goon by up to 50 per cent.
