Green light for Blue Hills units

FIVE new units will be built next to a child-care centre in the Blue Hills estate at Pakenham.
Cardinia councillors approved the application by J. Motyka (Harvan Design) without comment at their town planning meeting on Monday.
The development has not been without controversy with four objections and a petition with nine signatures lodged with council.
Residents said Blue Hills was to be a unit-free estate and were concerned that the development would add to the “already scruffy and unkempt look” of the estate.
But a town planner’s report found the proposal appropriate for the area, and councillors agreed.
Plans were amended to alleviate concerns about car parking and to provide improved landscaping.
Council was told that the development complied with state and local planning requirements.
