Car vandalism spree prompts warning

PAKENHAM Police have warned motorists to secure their vehicles close to their homes after a spate of car window damage in Pakenham last week.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said two cars had their windows broken in Duncan Drive and Eagle Drive at approximately 10.30pm last Sunday night.
Det Sgt Jury said a shop window was also smashed on Main Street in Pakenham on the same night.
The following night two cars in Balmoral Way were damaged. One car had its windscreen and tail lights smashed while the other car had its windows smashed.
Police are not sure what was used to do the damage but believe it may have been a baseball bat.
Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicles.
Det Sgt Jury said the total damage bill for the four vehicles was approximately $4000.
“If residents see groups of people out late at night they should ring the police to call around and check the situation.
“People should try and secure their vehicles in driveways or garages where possible, as this is better than leaving them on the street,” Det Sgt Jury said.
