RESCUE workers put their skills to the test at the Cardinia Road Safety Expo and Pakenham Free Family Fun Day on Saturday.
Demonstrations of what happens at a rescue were a key focal point for visitors to the event, held at the PB Ronald reserve.
Pakenham SES spokesman Steve Monro said it was a wonderful day that attracted hundreds of people who enjoyed free food, free fun and free activities — put on by the local churches, the Pakenham Shire and emergency services.
“The Pakenham Road Rescue Unit also displayed their skills and cut up two vehicles explaining to the public what happens at a rescue,” he said.
“It was a huge success and it is something that the community can look forward to again next year.”
Free child restraint safety checks were available and kids were encouraged to bring their bikes and see how fast they could run or ride, as measured by SAM, the speed monitor.
Pakenham police Senior Sergeant Steve Matthews said the event was a great success.
He congratulated organisers and patrons for their support.
