A NEW walking trail and accessible playground at Pakenham’s popular P.B. Ronald Park will encourage more residents to move towards a healthier lifestyle, according to Western Port Province MP Geoff Hilton said.
Mr Hilton said a $100,000 State Government boost for the park would help Cardinia Shire Council provide more opportunities for people to get involved in physical activity.
“This project will encourage more visitors to come and use P.B. Ronald Park,” Mr Hilton said.
The funding will be used to extend the playground area so that it is suitable for wheelchairs, build a path from the main car park and another path surrounding the park for walking, jogging and cycling.
The total cost of the project is $300,000.
“We’re improving access to play equipment for children of all abilities at the playground and adding a trail network to help people get active,” Mr Hilton said.
He said the grant would be welcomed by users of the P.B. Ronald Park as well as the wider Cardinia community.
The funding will be available to Cardinia Shire Council from July.
