Move now to clear out junk

PAKENHAM residents are reminded to clean up before Christmas with hard waste collection beginning in less than a fortnight.
The Cardinia Shire Council will collect waste such as old furniture, white goods, computers, timber, carpet, lawn mowers and hot water systems from households in the Central Ward the week beginning 17 December.
Residents can leave up to two cubic metres of hard and green waste on their nature strips for collection up to one week before collection.
The biannual hard and bundled green waste kerbside service replaces the current tip voucher system.
To help with recycling, residents are asked to place green waste, mattresses, scrap metal and remaining hard waste in separate piles.
Items that will not be collected include batteries, asbestos sheeting, chemicals, large car parts, tyres, gas bottles, car springs and any other dangerous materials. For more information visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au or for clarification about collection dates call 1300 787 624.
