Relay picks up the pace

By Jim Mynard
THE Casey Cardinia Relay For Life committee will hold an information night in the Lion’s Den, Henry St, Pakenham at 7pm on Monday 23 October.
Residents are invited to find out about the annual Relay For Life fundraiser for cancer research.
The Casey Cardinia event has raised nearly $100,000 for cancer research, education and support programs in the last three years.
Co-chairmanager Natalie Livsey said it was a perfect opportunity for the Pakenham community to come along and see what Relay For Life was all about.
“We have had terrific support from teams in Pakenham in the past and this year we are hoping for increased support and team involvement.”
Ms Livsey said it was important that residents across the entire region be involved and to do this the group needed to make information and resources easily accessible.
The event boasts a festival atmosphere and involves team members walking or running relay-style around Akoonah Park, Berwick over 24 hours on Friday and Saturday 2 and 3 March 2007.
Fourteen teams have already registered for the event and are out and about in the community raising funds and spreading the word about Relay For Life.
The $15 registration fee includes a Relay For Life branded sunsmart polo shirt, a handbook and fundraising materials.
For further information on the information night, contact Natalie Livsey on 0438 548 739 or Deborah Ditchburn on 0412 850 257.
To register a team, phone the Relay For Life hotline on 1300 656 585 or visit www.-relayforlife.org.au
