THE 30th annual Yakkerboo Festival was held on the weekend with the town of Pakenham coming together to celebrate the many exciting events that make it an exciting time for the whole community.
Major highlights included a spectacular fireworks show at the P.B Ronald Reserve along with the popular street parade that featured some eye catching floats.
With Melbourne recently hosting the Commonwealth Games all floats had various themes relating to the Games with the award of champion float going to Cardinia Primary School.
Rams Transport won the best commercial float while best community float was awarded to the Bahai Face group.
The young children of Pakenham also put in hours of works with Pakenham Kindergarten winning best dedicated to the theme float, Pakenham Heights Kindergarten awarded most entertaining float and Andrews Community Kindergarten winning float with most appeal to children.
The inaugural ute show was a major hit with festival goers and enabled another section of the community to get involved.
President of the Yakkerboo organising committee Graeme Moore was delighted with the festival and how Pakenham residents embraced all the different activities that were on throughout the weekend.
“Both the P.B Ronald Reserve and Bourke Park were used and it really brought the whole of Pakenham alive,” Mr Moore said.
