CARDINIAShire councillors are to press Australia Post to open another outlet in Pakenham.
Councillors say the town needs another post office to alleviate the pressure on the sole office in the main street.
Councillor Bill Pearson raised a motion at last month’s council meeting to write two separate letters to try to get improved postal services for Pakenham.
The first letter is to be sent to the operators of the town’s current post office, asking them to cut down delays within their Pakenham Office which may include increasing the size of their business.
The second is to be sent to Australia Post asking for urgent consideration for the opening of a new post office to service the expanding growth corridor between Pakenham and Beaconsfield, ideally located at Lakeside.
The motion was endorsed by all councillors.
