THE future of agriculture will be discussed in the Agfutures forum at Pearcedale this month.
The forum will help farmers respond to market and value chain challenges, capture new market opportunities and support market driven enterprises.
Farmers are invited to attend this event, which will provide information and discussion on opportunities on how to make money on small farms and how the small and large farms in Casey and Cardinia can better support the operations of one another. A forum will also be held at Kooweerup.
Speakers and information include:
Rabobank- the business of how contracts work and what you can expect to get from the deal in terms of return and responsibilities.
Kevin Wilkinson (DPI)- Composting- the ingredients for production and marketing.
Ronald Rietsma- how two farmers in West Gippsland are making money by growing fodder and agisting young dairy stock on small allotments.
Tony Gill- Interested in setting up a Co-operative?
Farmer’s Markets- ideas on how to grow and sell at farmers markets. Options for small farms.
The forum will be held at the Pearcedale Hall on the corner of Queens and Pearcedale Rds from 11am to 3pm on Thursday 20 May and Saturday 29 May. Catering is included.
