CARDINIA Shire Council has invited the public to have their say on the future of the Pakenham Golf Course.
The council is seeking submissions on Deep Creek Reserve – a section of Pakenham that includes the Golf Course and a 48-hectare reserve south of the course.
Council’s Natural Resource Planner Robert Jones said draft proposals for the site focussed on retaining the golf course and improving passive recreational opportunities in the green field area.
“This is an exciting opportunity for residents to have their say on sustainable uses of the area,” he said.
“At the same time council aims to restore the natural environment and attract a wide range of native fauna.”
Three maps are available for comment and have been developed to identify site constraints, the future use zone and potential opportunities.
The maps are available online at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au under the ‘Have your say’ section.
Hard copies are available at the shire offices, Henty Way, Pakenham.
Submissions should be sent to chief executive officer, Cardinia Shire Council, Pakenham Golf Course Open Space Reserve – Deep Creek, PO Box 7, Pakenham 3810.
Submissions will only be accepted in written format by 5pm Wednesday 12 May 2010.
