Meeting on track

By Melissa Meehan
PAKENHAM Business Group met for its quarterly general meeting last week in a fitting setting – the Pakenham Racecourse.
The meeting was addressed by Pakenham policeman Sergeant David Smith, who spoke to the group about when it was appropriate to call 000.
He told business owners that there would be no criticism for people who called 000 when they needed police assistance, but made it clear that someone who wanted to call about hooning would be best to call Crime Stoppers unless it was happening at that very moment.
“If something is happening in front of you call 000,” he said.
“It then instantly becomes an accountable job and someone will make it out there.”
Pakenham Business Group secretary Glad Fish gave a membership update and said she hoped it would grow to 50 in the near future.
