Seniors wade through water

SENIORS were knee-deep in discussion with Minister for Water Tim Holding at a morning tea hosted by Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley last week.
Seventy seniors met Mr Holding at Uniting Place, Hampton Park, to talk about water issues and policies.
“I hosted another two seniors’ morning and afternoon teas this year, and at both events water was a big issue,” Ms Graley said.
“That is why I asked the Minister for Water to come down to my electorate for a morning tea.”
Mr Holding took the opportunity to inform seniors about the state government’s water projects as outlined in Our Water, Our Future: The Next Stage of the Government’s Water Plan.
“The Victorian Government is undertaking the $2 billion Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project, which will save 425 billion litres of water by upgrading leaky old irrigation infrastructure,” Mr Holding said.
“We are also building a 150-billion-litre desalination plant in the Wonthaggi region, which can provide Melbourne with more than a third of its water requirements regardless of drought and rainfall.”
Seniors were also each given a copy of Judith Graley’s Seniors Information Kit. For a copy of the Kit, phone 9704 6055.
