IT’S business as usual at the Pakenham Library, which on Monday opened its doors at a temporary facility.
The library will operate out of portables, between the CFA running track and Pakenham Pool, for the next 18 months, while a $7.1 million library/hall facility is built.
It relocated from its home of 18 years last week to make way for an $80 million retail centre.
Casey Cardinia Library chief executive Peter Carter said staff had settled into the temporary facility, which had more than 30,000 items on the shelf.
“We’ve already had story time activities there at the library so it’s business as usual,” he said.
“We’re just finalising the phone lines and communications.”
Mr Carter said the public seemed to be pleased with the new set-up.
“We’ve had very positive comments about the feel of the building even though it’s temporary,” he said.
