They like to move it

STUDENTS at Pakenham Consolidated School have got the moves.
And they showed off some of their best at a recent Aero Challenge competition in Ringwood, with all three of the school’s aerobics teams recording top finishes.
Performing Arts teacher Kate Milnes said she was proud to see the girls perform so well at their first competition of the season after months of preparation.
The Grade 4 team of Megan, Kirsten, Tabita, Madison and Emily came first in the junior level one section, Grade 6 team of Jess, Karlee and Brook placed third in the intermediate level one trio section, while the intermediate trio team of Chloe, Tayla and Mel placed 10th in a 24-team competition.
“They trained twice a week, on holidays and had after school rehearsals,” Ms Milnes said.
The girls are seasoned performers having competed in school aerobics competition last year.
Ms Milnes said the aerobics challenges provided many benefits for its competitors.
“It’s great for their health and well-being – they have to be fairly fit,” she said.
“And then there are the friendships within their teams.”
The girls are now gearing up for their next competition, which will take place at Melbourne Girls College in six weeks.
