POLICE will target underage drinkers and people boozing in public places in the coming months. Pakenham Acting Senior Sergeant Graham Higginbotham said police would be patrolling trouble spots, including parks and the Pakenham train station, regularly.
He said it was an offence under council local laws to have an open carton of alcohol in a public place. “We are issuing tickets on a regular basis. Any offensive behaviour, you run the risk of being caught and sent to court,” Sgt Higginbotham said. Offenders face fines of $250 to $2000.
