Entries open for business awards

TRADERS are urged to get cracking on their entries for the annual Cardinia Shire Business Awards.
Nominations close on Tuesday 14 April for 14 separate awards, including the Business of the Year Award, which will celebrate the achievements of local and home-based businesses and small and larger trade and professional operations in the shire.
To be eligible, every business entering the fifth annual business awards must have been operating in Cardinia Shire for a minimum of 12 months.
Cardinia Shire economic development officer Phil Jackson said: “The awards are Cardinia’s flagship business event and winners share in $5000 cash prizes and receive a certificate, plus award logos to use in their promotions.”
Mr Jackson said the entry process was an opportunity for local business operators to reflect on their achievements.
“In the current difficult economic times, a review could be beneficial,” he said.
“We have some great local businesses and through the Cardinia Business Awards, the council and the community can recognise, encourage and promote the benefits of supporting local businesses.”
The awards will be judged by an independent panel and presented at a red carpet, gala dinner at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in May.
