Last night at approximately 1.00am, the owner of a farm in Tynong woke up to the sound of gun shots, at which point he called Triple Zero (000). Several units responded and attended the address.
Approximately 1 hour later the offender’s vehicle was intercepted in Berwick, and three offenders were arrested.
Inside their vehicle police found several illegal firearms, ammunition, and the remains of a deceased deer.
Offenders were transported to Dandenong Police Station where they were charged with several firearms offences, and for the illegal shooting of a deer.
Police said “as we approach winter, and wild deer migrate into Cardinia, this is a reminder to everyone; illegal hunting will not be tolerated.”
