CARDINIA Shire Council has changed its parking local law to help keep service lanes and busy local roads clearer for traffic.
Residents can now park cars outside their own homes with two wheels on the nature strip – but only two.
The introduction of the new local law comes after council last year waived 12 fines issued to McGregor Road residents who parked on their nature strips. The residents, who lived in a service lane, said they had no alternative but to park on their nature strip because the road was too narrow.
The new local law excludes heavy vehicles, and residents’ cars must not obstruct the footpath.
Residents are also responsible for the costs of repairs to the nature strip if any damage is caused.
