POLICE are calling for witnesses after thieves stole $34,000 worth of timber from a Hallam wholesaler.
Detective Senior Constable Adam Ferguson from the Narre Warren police station told the News thieves broke into Bayswood Timber Wholesalers on Monday and Sunday night by jumping over the side fence.
He said the Star Crescent property had been targeted on three separate occasions in the past month. “The thieves are using a crane or pulley device to transport the timber,” he said.
Det Ferguson said the stolen timber was rough sawn.
Police would be stepping up patrols in the area and were urging anyone with information to call Detective Senior Constable Adam Ferguson at the Narre Warren police station on 9705 3115.
