PAKENHAM residents can come together at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on 26 January to celebrate Australia Day.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson said Australia Day was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get together and celebrate everything that is special about the nation.
Celebrations at the Cardinia Cultural Centre will include the announcement of Cardinia Shire’s Australia Day Awards, honouring the Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the recipient of the Community Service Award.
Nineteen people have been nominated for Cardinia Shire Citizen of the Year, seven nominations were received for Senior Citizen of the Year award and eight nominations for the Community Event of the Year. Fourteen young people were nominated for the Young Citizen of the Year and four others were nominated for the Community Service Award.
Families can enjoy a host of activities at the Pakenham celebration including face painting, an animal farm, free barbecue, and a Landcare display with native plant giveaways. Visit www.cardinia.vic. gov.au.
