It’s still go for the ‘Mo’

MOST of the moustaches are gone but the money Cardinia Shire Council raised during its Movember campaign is still growing.
So far, $6500 has been raised – much more than the Cardinia Mojos’ target of $5000.
More than 50 council staff were involved in the fundraiser, including chief executive Garry McQuillan and general managers Michael Ellis, Phil Walton and Neil Thorpe, who all grew lip hair for the cause.
Council asset management coordinator Graeme Fletcher, who organised the fundraising, said he was thrilled with the result.
“It’s been fantastic; to raise so much money for charity is really rewarding,” he said.
“The generosity of all the people who have donated to our team was much appreciated and it was very encouraging to see so many people recognising the importance of men’s health. It’s also been a lot of fun.”
Mr Fletcher said some staff had become attached to their new look.
The Movember campaign raised awareness of, and funds for, the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and Beyond Blue.
Mr Fletcher thanked local businesses, including Hardy’s Mitre 10, Brumby’s Heritage Springs, Riley McGough’s Meats, Pakenham Toyworld, Pakenham Bookshop, Cactus Black and Pakenham Gourmet Cellar for sponsoring Cardinia Mojo raffles and sausage sizzles.
