THE Know Your Numbers campaign at YMCA Cardinia LiFE was a success with 103 people taking advantage of free blood pressure checks.
The National Stroke Foundation urged Cardinia residents to find out their blood pressure numbers in a push for awareness and to reduce their risk of stroke.
Just under 20 per cent of those checked at Cardinia LiFE had a high to very high reading and were advised to take action to lower their blood pressure or seek medical advice.
Few of those who did exceed the normal limits were aware that their blood pressure numbers were high.
Nearly four million Australians over 25 have high blood pressure and the Know Your Numbers campaign aimed to raise awareness of high blood pressure or hypertension.
The station at YMCA Cardinia LiFE was one of about 250 blood pressure checking stations set up in Victoria during the last week of October.
