The South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group once again struck gold with the weather conditions on Thursday with 38 members heading to Kooweerup to take part in the weekly challenge.
Summer seemed to come early, with players basking in the sunshine and enjoying some great company before the weather turned nasty a day later.
A big thank you goes to Tracey and Stephen for not only unlocking the club and setting up of the green, but also for their hard work behind the bar and in and around the kitchen.
We were signed in by John while Bev and Vern prepared the teams for today.
Then, out we went for some great fun trying to better our great friends for the day.
A few wrong-bias bowls seemed to be the order of the day, but the Royal Children’s Hospital will be grateful for our donations.
There was a fair amount of laughter and banter around the green which always lifts our spirits and seems to improve everyone’s game.
The green was in excellent condition, Kooweerup always runs true to form, and today was no exception.
But as usual, we can only have the one winning team and this week’s winners on a score of 33 were Jenny Harding, Louis Magri and Mary Pagett.
Runners up on a score of 24 were Steve Edge, Peter Thorley and Luke Monckton.
Best one game winner, on a score of 18, was the team of Kirk Humphrey, Chris Colson, Gillian Harper and Jaye A-D.
This week we will be meeting at Lang Lang to once again fight it out for team of the week.
Please be on site by 10am to allow time to prepare the teams.
Unfortunately with numbers generally reaching our capacity we will have to be strict on a 10:00am cut off time.
