Pool all set for summer fun

THE Pakenham Pool is set to open for the summer this weekend.
Residents will be able to make a splash at the outdoor pool from this Saturday, provided the weather isn’t below 21 degrees Celsius.
The popular facility was re-opened last year, following a six-year battle to save it.
The Cardinia Shire closed the pool in 2001 and decommissioned it a year later, sparking community debate and outrage.
The pool recorded 16,700 visits last summer.
“It is just a year since Pakenham Outdoor Pool reopened to enormous community support after Council undertook a $1 million refurbishment and it is hoped people will take advantage of this very popular facility once again this year,” Cardinia Shire Council’s general manager community wellbeing Fiona Hodges said.
Pakenham Outdoor Pool will open 12 noon to 7pm weekdays and 11am to 7pm weekends and public holidays. It will stay open longer when the temperature is above 30 degrees, provided there are at least 20 people using the facility.
The pool won’t open if forecast temperature is below 21 degrees, or if heavy rain and lightning conditions are forecast.
Entry is $3 for adults, $2.50 for students or pensioners and children under three are admitted free. A $10 family day-pass is also available.
