Oaks Day fashions

The Pakenham Racing Club was sea of glitz and glam, with the Fashions on the Field categories including Most Elegant Lady, Most Elegant Mature Lady, Best Dressed Couple and the Best Dressed Local Lady or Gent.
With more than 130 entrants over the four categories, the judges, fashion ambassador for Country Racing Victoria Sally Anne Marshall, milliner Stephanie Anne Booth and Australian Idol finalist Sophie Paterson, had the gruelling task of narrowing down the winners.
Fashionista Leonie Nethercote was crowned this year’s Pakenham Gazette Oaks Day winner of the Most Elegant Lady in the Fashions on the Field event, while Marlene Burhop from Pakenham won the Most Mature Elegant Lady.
Pakenham’s Ken and Leanne Barker took home the title of Best Dressed Couple, wearing a matching turquoise ensemble.
Style-queen Shona Scott from Pakenham was crowned the Fashions on the Field Best Dressed Local Lady.
Pakenham Police praised most of the crowd on their behaviour and said they were pleased with the cooperation of the Pakenham Racecourse, Cardinia Club and liquor staff working at the event.
