Underage driver caught over the limit

Members from Cardinia Highway Patrol were conducting routine patrols of the Cardinia area on Saturday night, where they detected a White Holden travelling at 127 km/h in a 40 km/h zone on Tivendale Road, Officer.

The driver was intercepted and found to be a 17-year-old male from Officer behind the wheel, with his 18-year-old friend in the passenger seat.

Routine drug and alcohol testing was completed, and the boy tested positive on a roadside Preliminary Breath Test.

He was taken to the Pakenham Police Station, where an Evidentiary Breath Test was conducted, with the result being 0.032.

The male is to be charged on summons for:

-No experienced accompanying driver

-Excessively speeding

-Drink Driving

The vehicle was also impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1445.00.
