VOTERS in the Cardinia Shire who will be away in mid-November should act now to make sure they can still vote at this year’s council elections.
The council elections are being conducted entirely by post this November and voting is compulsory for all enrolled residents under 70 years of age.
“Ballot packs will be mailed to voters from Tuesday 11 November and alternative voting options are available for people who will be away during this time,” said Ian Herron, Returning Officer for the Cardinia Shire Council elections.
“It is important that voters plan ahead and don’t miss the opportunity to have a say on the future direction of their local council.”
Voters can apply to have their ballot packs redirected to another address by writing to the Returning Officer, Cardinia Shire Council elections, Reply Paid 66506, Melbourne, Victoria 3000. Applications for redirection must be received by Tuesday, 28 October.
Alternatively, voters who will be away but will not have an address for redirection can apply for an early postal vote by calling 13 18 32, or the election office on 5940 0018 after 22 October.
