Railway Hotel secures gig funding

Pakenham’s Railway Hotel will be the local spot for live music after receiving funding to promote live entertainment.

The state government’s Creative Victoria released their first round of grants as part of the Victorian Gig Fund, which aims to promote live music and performance by local artists.

The Railway Hotel received $11,000 to help cover artist fees, so that everyone can enjoy their work free of charge.

The funding will cover 20 acts at the hotel starting from July. Live music is on every Saturday evening from 8pm.

From November, the hotel will also have Friday night entertainment on top of Saturday’s live music.

This funding is vital for the hotel’s vision to secure gigs for new and emerging artists that can be enjoyed by all.

The Victorian Gig Fund aims to help 10,000 live gigs across the state over the next four years.
