Woman airlifted from smash

By Jade Lawton
The car ended up pinned between the truck and a pole. The woman was trapped for nearly 40 minutes as the rescue crew cut the roof and two doors off her late-model Holden Commodore.
The woman, from Garfield, was the sole occupant of the car and was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital after a helicopter landed at the nearby Toomuc Reserve.
The accident occurred at about 12.55pm.
Police said the woman had suspected hip fractures, while the truck driver received minor cuts to his head.
The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old male from Broadmeadows, has been interviewed and police said the man faced charges for failing to give way and recklessly causing injury.
Three CFA units, police and the SES attended the scene.
