A great run of weather ended for members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group with rain greeting players who turned up at Lang Lang on Thursday to fight it out for the title of team of the week.
The group was welcomed to the club by Pauline, Bev and Vern as Peter was kept busy arranging the teams.
It is always a pleasure to turn up and play at any and all of our Thursday events.
A big thank you to Peter, Pauline, John as well as Bev and Vern for all the time and effort they put into the game each week.
As I have said in the past we could not have these great Thursdays without all the help from our wonderful volunteers.
Once the teams were prepared and the player draws were completed, we took to the green.
The rain had stopped and was never to return for the rest of the day.
This week gave us some excellent bowling by some excellent bowlers, with a few wild shots from time to time.
We didn’t see too many wrong bias bowls on the day but we are still adding nicely to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.
There was a fair amount of friendly banter as well as a lot of laughter could be heard across the green which makes the day so much fun for all.
It was fantastic to see such happy bowlers on such a great day.
As usual we have our winners and then we have the rest of us, and this week’s winners on a superb score of 39 were Derek Fenn (2), Robyn Coulson (3), Enid Johnston (L) and Vern Elliott (S).
Runners up on a score of 37 were Andrea Levey (L), Laurie Bell (3), Rob Jeffrey (S) and Pauline McWilliams (2), while Best One Game winners on a score of 19 were Wendy Pownall (3), Mark Hanrahan (S), Lou Capsalis (L) and Chris Coulson (2).
This Thursday, May 22, we will be playing at Corinella Bowls Club.
Please, be on time as the numbers are getting very close to a full house and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.
Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.
