Kennedy un-Loch’s the secret to Edge out Steve and his team

SWGMW Bowls

The ‘full house’ sign was almost up at the Loch and District Bowls Club on Thursday as 55 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group took part in the weekly challenge.

This week’s battle to ultimately find the team of the week was perfect; with great weather, no wind to speak of, and the company absolutely first class.

The group was welcomed in by Bev and Vern while Clair, Rob and David all worked on arranging the teams for the day.

Trevor and Sue kept the kitchen stocked for all our morning tea and coffee needs and we always feel welcome at Loch by the lovely members there.

Out on the green it was once again a fun day with great quality bowling with a fantastic fun group of players.

There’s always a bit of sledging and banter between friends, but I think that improves the quality of the bowling.

Just a quick compliment to Loch for the wonderful state of the green, it makes playing there a real pleasure,

There were a couple of wrong bias bowls to keep the Royal Children’s Hospital tin filling and it’s getting close to that time of year where we have to start filling a new tin very soon.

It was really good to see a couple of newcomers join in today, looking forward to continuing seeing them in the future.

This week’s winners on a brilliant score of 38 were Pat Kennedy (S), Jenny Smith (L), Bev Elliott (3) and Rob Paganoni (2).

Runners up on a score of 37 were Amanda Bozelle (3), Steve Edge (S), Shirley Corcoran (2) and Ron Hughes (L).

The best one game winners on a score of 19 were Vern Elliott (s), Luke Monckton (3) and Lou Capsalis (L).

So many volunteers helped out after the game.

Trevor looked after our thirsty bowlers in the bar, Andrea and Paul cleaned up in the kitchen and Linda cleaned up the tables after we had all left.

I hope I haven’t overlooked or forgotten anyone, with so many lovely helpers it’s hard to keep track.

Next week we will be meeting up at Lang Lang.

Please, be on time as the numbers are getting very close to a full house and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.
