On Tuesday 18 March, the Rotary Club of Emerald and District was proud to host its bi-annual Pride of Workmanship event at the Puffing Billy Lakeside Visitors Centre.
Thirteen local businesses each took the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of one of their outstanding staff members, each of whom was presented with a glass award and achievement certificate.
The ‘Pride of Workmanship’ event is a key focus for the Vocational Service Committee which this year is led by Gayle Barrot and whose theme is “doing it once – doing it right”. The staff members recognised on the night certainly all embodied that aspiration.
The event was attended by well over 100 people and the vibe in the room was very positive and upbeat – a real celebration of the work done by local businesses for our community.
Guests of honour included Cardinia mayor Jack Kowarzik, Rotary District 9815 District Governor Colin Byron and the major sponsor of the event, Andrew Gardner from Bendigo Bank, Emerald whose support was greatly appreciated.
The team at the Puffing Billy Visitor Centre put a great evening for guests who were entertained by MC and Rotarian Ian Ash. President Kelly McAllister presented the awards to recipients and attendees enjoyed an entertaining segment by guest speaker, Martin Doulton.
“The real stars of the evening were the recipients of the Pride of Workmanship Awards – well done to every single one of you for going above and beyond,“ Ian said.
