Garfield vibrant with Christmas spirit

Over a thousand locals enjoyed a warm festive evening with the Garfield Christmas Festival on Friday December 13, marking another successful year for this small-town event.

Main Street, Garfield was lined with stalls from food and craft traders with residents perusing to live music from local performers.

Run by the Garfield Community Association, it may be a small town, but this Christmas Festival has firmly established itself as a staple of West Gippsland’s festive season.

Starting in the afternoon, Cardinia Leisure opened up the Garfield Outdoor Pool for locals to cool off from the warm weather before the festival started.

Shifting to Main Street, the night saw Santa’s arrival at 7.30pm before the festival would shift over to the recreation reserve where the Garfield Football Club opened up the club rooms.

There is no better way to celebrate than with a spectacular display of colour, attendees gathered on the oval to watch the fireworks which capped off this year’s festival.
