Chairo’s dux reaches 95

Sophie Langner is the 2024 Year 12 dux of Chairo Christian College Pakenham with an ATAR of 95.9 that includes a perfect score environment studies.

Sophie studied English, Biology, General Mathematics, and Outdoor and Environmental Studies, having already completed Psychology in Year 11.

Amongst her high ATAR overall, Sophie achieved a perfect study score of 50 in Outdoor & Environmental Studies, as well as study scores over 40 in English and Psychology.

Sophie has been at Chairo from four-year-old Kindergarten, Chairo said she approached Year 12 with energy and maturity, whilst still being actively involved in the life of the school and community.

Sophie was a Senior House Captain, a servant-hearted member of the Senior School Senate, a member of the school cleaning team, and a kind and welcoming friend to newcomers.

Awarded the Ampol All-Rounder award at the recent Celebration Night, Sophie encourages younger students to make the most of school, especially the final experiences of Year 12.

“Most of all, give everything your best efforts, and bring glory to God as you do,“ Sophie said.

Her plans are to study Occupational Therapy at ACU.

Kyle McBurnie, with the second highest result, scored an ATAR of 93.1, with a mix of Science and Humanities areas of study.

Mrs Louisa Doherty, Principal at Chairo’s Pakenham campus, congratulated Sophie and the entire class of 2024.

“We were so pleased to see the achievements of this group. The class of 2024 have continued to contribute to the school’s steadily improving VCE results,“ Mrs Doherty said.

“Our 5-year-average ATAR continues to increase. Sophie’s perfect score of 50 in Outdoor and Environmental Studies is a highlight, and several other students also performed very well in this area.

“Five percent of our study scores were over 40 and 6% of our ATAR scores were above 90.

“Several students undertook an advanced placement university subject this year, with results contributing to their ATAR score.

“Our VCE-Vocational Major students have successfully completed their course of study, providing a pathway into industry. We’re sure that each of our graduates has wonderful opportunities ahead of

them.“
