COST conscious cooking was the order of the day at Outlook Community Centre yesterday (Wednesday).
Pakenham chef John Hardy volunteered his time and ran cooking classes that covered quick and easy budget meals.
Outlook’s Cardinia Learning Project (CLP) joined forces with Pakenham food bank 4Cs to host the two sessions.
The menu included apricot chicken, fried rice and mince based sauce for lasagne or spaghetti.
CLP project officer Christine LaRive said there was a lot of interest in the community on how to gain information about cooking easy and cheap meals.
She said Outlook was likely to run more budget cooking classes during the next school holiday break if there was enough interest.
