Liz Roberts wins Henty Ward

Liz Roberts is the new leader at the very heart of Pakenham, surmounting incumbent councillor Carol Ryan to take Henty Ward in this year’s council election.

The VEC released the final results on Friday 8 November calculating the preference distribution in the race that saw Roberts take over 30 percent of the first preferences in the five-candidate race.

The final count after preference distribution saw Robert win with over 1500 votes in favour, 4247 votes over incumbent Ryan’s 2737.

Roberts will ascend to the council after being named Cardinia Shire’s 2024 Citizen of the Year for her work in reviving the Pakenham & District Toy Library as president.

She also volunteers for local food relief group Paddy’s Kitchen and is a member of a local school and kindergarten committee.

Final results for Ranges and Toomuc Wards are expected later today.
