Alanna Pomeroy is Cardinia’s newest councillor winning Bunyip Ward in a close race.

The count of the two-candidate race between Pomeroy and Travis Parker is finished, with Pomeroy taking a 55 percent majority of 3929 votes.

Parker made a significant push, but fell behind with 3129 votes.

Pomeroy takes over from longtime councillor Graeme More who held the ward since 2010 before he opted to leave his place on the council this election.

She is well known throughout the community as a former board member of the Pakenham Racing Club and a member of the Scanlon family.

Over the last several years, Pomeroy moved her career into Local Government. She has worked for Bass Coast Shire Council and was recently contracted as a Communications Consultant for Cardinia Shire Council, a role she vacated before her election run.
