Mud Rats running hot

Four weeks remain in the longest South West Gippsland Dart League season in recent history with 10 teams remaining in the mix to qualify for the top eight come season’s end.

Six teams – Snipers, Predators, Cheers, Mud Rats, Dart Vaders, Gembrook – have booked their tickets to finals action, with another four – Just Social, 26ers, Fore, Railway – jostling for the final two places.

Railway’s prospects are hanging by a thread, however, needing results to go its way in the final quartet of weeks to break into the finals mix.

Railway suffered a second consecutive loss on Tuesday night, falling to the finals-bound Dart Vaders 12-3.

Just Social, meanwhile, had its three-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the in-form Mud Rats, in an 8-7 thriller.

Fore continues to nip at the heels of 26ers in eighth, downing Hoodies 14-1 on the back of Liam’s second 180 of 2024.

26ers, meanwhile, became Predators’ latest victim, losing 10-5, with Jordan throwing six tons for the victors.

Snipers capitalised on the mismatch in its contest with Dart Attack, winning 15-0 in the 10th result of its kind this season, and the third shut-out win of Snipers’ season.

Unfortunately for Dart Attack, it was third time unlucky, losing to that scoreline for the third time in 2024.

Bill from Snipers threw 180 number three of the season and Chris offered five tons.

Six of the eight teams currently in the top eight go head-to-head next week in a round that is certain to shape the final eight’s configuration come season’s end, highlighted by Mud Ruts hoping to become just the second side to knock off Predators.
