New school making progress

A new primary school, which is expected to be open by Term 1 in 2025, is taking shape along Thewlis Road in Pakenham.

Works on the future Pakenham North West Primary School (interim name), located along Thewlis and Kenneth Roads, are ramping up with the installation of structural steel for the administration building and a ‘learning neighbourhood’ underway this month.

The second learning neighbourhood is also being prepared to finalise concrete pours and will see preparations for steel arrival and installation, once the pour is complete.

In ground servicing works continue across several buildings and areas of the new school site.

When open in 2025, the school will include:

Administration building

Learning neighbourhood

Hardcourts

Carpark

Sports field

A community hub will also be built.

The community will be able to help choose the new school’s name via the Engage Victoria website.

Following consultation, the Minister for Education will make the final decision on the school’s name which is expected to be by early Term 3, 2024.

Zania Cope was also appointed as the future principal, having worked in several leadership and principal roles spanning 33 years.

The school will open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6. It will be able to enrol up to 525 students when the first stage of the school is complete.

You can find out if you’re in the school enrolment zone by entering your address at findmyschool.vic.gov.au

For enrolment queries, please email vsba@education.vic.gov.au with Pakenham North West Primary School (interim name) in the subject line.

An Integrated Child and Family Centre is also being constructed on Thewlis Road, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
